“Bending the Space for You” is Eventstellar’s twenty-second single in the band’s canon and the fourth single from the narrative arc of Eventstellar’s second album,“Love Is a Distant Signal”. Recorded in February 2020 in Reykjavík & Dublin and released on May 30, 2020 through Norðurljós Music. The release continues the expansion of the album’s cosmic love story and deepens the mythology surrounding Lyra and Lurlen.
Production was carried out by Söothe, Jesse Hvelsson, Milo Harlan, Logan Scott and Johannes Balsary. The single was recorded by Sōun Kanda and mixed by Samantha Hensley and Declan Ellision. Composed of three versions of the same song, the release presents one central idea through different sonic dimensions, each one reflecting motion, distance and devotion from a different perspective.
“Bending the Space for You” tells the story of Lūrlen as he journeys toward Earth, driven by the signal sent by Lyra. No longer distant in spirit, he is now in motion, crossing corridors of stars and piercing the silent architecture of the cosmos to reach her. The song captures his voyage through darkness, memory and impossible distance, guided only by love and the certainty that her call was meant for him.
“Bending the Space for You (Rigil Version)” reimagines the same journey through a darker and more grounded emotional texture. Inspired by the spirit of nineties rock and particularly by the atmosphere surrounding the Strange Days soundtrack, this version channels a more physical, urgent and human intensity. Its sound reflects Eventstellar’s desire to explore a grittier sonic identity, strongly influenced by Eoin Belfield’s musical sensibilities. Here, Lurlen’s voyage feels less like a dream suspended in starlight and more like a determined crossing through pressure, shadow and raw momentum. The cosmic mission remains the same, but the emotional weight is carried through a more earthly and visceral energy.
“Bending the Space for You (Kentaurus Version)” transforms the song into a faster and more kinetic experience. Inspired by motion through time and space, this version embraces a rapid funk-infused pulse that mirrors the velocity of Lūrlen’s passage across the cosmos. Where the original version evokes wonder and devotion, the “Kentaurus Version” emphasizes propulsion, rhythm and the unstoppable force of movement. It captures the sensation of travel itself: stars flashing past, dimensions collapsing into momentum and desire becoming acceleration. In this rendering, the journey toward Lyra feels immediate, alive and charged with luminous urgency.
Bending the space for you is not simply a single built around alternate versions. It is a release that explores one act of devotion through multiple sonic forms. At its heart lies the image of Lūrlen in transit, drawn across the universe by the signal of love. Whether through cosmic awe, nineties-infused gravity, or funk-driven momentum, each version reveals a different face of the same truth: that love can become direction, movement and force. This release marks the moment when the call first sent into the void begins to be answered.
