“Phantom Muse” is Eventstellar’s twenty-third single and the thirty-second release in the band’s official discography. Released on July 20, 2020, the two-track single explores the uncertainty of modern romantic encounters, where attraction, intimacy and emotional expectations develop through digital communication, often ending in sudden silence or unexplained disappearances.

The single was produced by Matt Dublin, Finlay McLennan, Jesse Hvelsson and Keir McRae. Mixing was handled by Tavish Ferguson and Matt Dublin, while mastering was completed by Magnus Thomasson, Torin Lennox and Matt Dublin. The recordings were produced, mixed and mastered at The Warehouse Zone in Dublin, Ireland.

“Phantom Muse” examines the fascination and frustration surrounding an elusive romantic figure. She appears through images of desire, deception and emotional contradiction, inspiring affection while remaining impossible to understand. The recurring image of a phantom muse captures the unsettling experience of pursuing someone who continually disappears, leaving behind little more than unanswered questions and the memory of an imagined connection.

“Will you still love me?” continues the narrative from a more vulnerable perspective. Its lyrics confront the confusion of loving someone whose intentions remain unclear, questioning the sincerity of promises and the possibility of affection surviving betrayal or emotional distance. The repeated question becomes increasingly difficult to answer, particularly as the narrator acknowledges the possibility that the love he believed in may never have existed beyond his own expectations.

Phantom Muse reflects the fragile nature of romantic attachment in an age of fleeting digital encounters. Behind its images of desire, jealousy and abandonment lies a familiar experience: the uncertainty of waiting for someone who may never return. The single closes without reconciliation, leaving its final question unanswered.
