“Abolition” is Eventstellar’s third single, released worldwide by Stormwind Music International on February 11, 2017. Recorded between June and July 2016, the single was produced by John Scatter and mixed and mastered by John Sunday at The Neighborhood Studio in Monterrey, Mexico.
This release serves as a tribute to John Sunday, also known as John Scatter, the band’s former bassist and one of Eventstellar’s original members. As a special homage, Abolition is performed entirely in Spanish, marking the only single so far sung by Jesse Rómlárson in his native language.
The single has three songs: “Symphony of Darkness and Light” explores the inner conflict between opposing forces of spirituality—light and darkness. The track reflects on John Scatter’s contradictory nature, offering a poignant tribute to his complex personality and profound influence on the band. “Bruma Extraña (Strange Fog)” delves into the torment of fleeting, destructive thoughts. Through vivid imagery of ephemeral lightning and twisted reflections, the song portrays a struggle with inner demons and the inevitability of descending into chaos.“Veneno (Poison)” is a deeply emotional piece that touches on themes of longing, betrayal, and unfulfilled promises. The lyrics reveal a desperate yearning for reconciliation, blending raw vulnerability with haunting metaphors of poison and unchained souls.
Abolition stands out not only for its lyrical depth and emotional intensity but also as a heartfelt dedication to a pivotal figure in Eventstellar’s history.
