“Mrs. Borderline” is Eventstellar’s nineteenth single, released worldwide through Sólir Music on December 1, 2018. It was recorded between Skógafoss Studio in Reykjavík, Iceland and The Warehouse Zone in Dublin, Ireland. The single was produced by Ellis Marlowe, with co-production by Conrad Fenwick, recording by Sōun Kanda, mixing by Gareth Mullen and mastering by Arvid Skeldal.

This release marks the first direct character study within the Eventstellar canon—a trilogy of tracks that revolve around a single, volatile muse: “Mrs. Borderline”. She is desire and disorder, passion and punishment. Through dream pop and dream rock frameworks, the single captures her psychology, her ruin and the seductive chaos she leaves behind.

Mrs. Borderline introduces her as an emotional siren. Wrapped in dreamy beats, the song details her paradox: a woman both enchanting and self-destructive. “She builds every man / Like a castle in sand” reveals a pattern of fleeting connection and inevitable collapse. Despite the softness of the arrangement, the narrative is razor sharp—portraying a woman dancing on a wire, both alluring and explosive. Her love is a loaded gun and yet, the blame always shifts.

She Walks in Ruins deepens the portrait with a sorrowful dream pop ballad. Here, Mrs. Borderline is no longer powerful—she is consequence. “Now she kisses ghosts / As her silence keeps piling” reflects the aftermath of years of untamed freedom and unhealed wounds. The lyrics suggest fluidity in identity and desire, touching subtly on her same-sex relationships, emotional recklessness and existential longing. Her path is scattered with names, memories and the lingering scent of perfume and pride. It is a song of aftermath, of wandering through what remains when love turns to ash.

Mrs. Borderline (BPD Version) closes the single with a sharper edge. While maintaining the dream rock foundation, this version channels more urgency and anguish. The vocals rise in intensity, especially in the repeated line “Loving like a loaded gun,” emphasizing the psychological volatility and emotional danger at the heart of the character. This is not merely a remix—it is a breakdown. A cry from inside the storm.

With vocal performances by Eventstellar’s elusive collaborator Éowyn Árnadóttir, Mrs. Borderline becomes not just a concept, but a presence. She haunts every beat, every lyric and every silence.

This single marks a thematic shift for Eventstellar—moving away from cosmic abstraction and into the emotional ruins of human relationships. In Mrs. Borderline, the stars are replaced by cigarette embers, and the void becomes a mirror.
