“Oneiric Parallax” is Eventstellar’s twenty-first single and the third release within the canon of the band’s second album “Love is a distant signal”. It was recorded in Reykjavik, Iceland between February-March 2020 and released on April 20, 2020 through Norðurljós Music.
The single was produced by Eldar Jónsdal, Eoghan MacDara, Soöthe, with production assistance by Aoife Byrne, Örn Snævar Hákonarson, Liam Sheridan. With recording by Sōun Kanda, mixing by Finbar Calloway, Samantha Hensley, Aoife Byrne, Örn Snævar Hákonarson and mastering by Magnus Thomasson, Declan Ellison, Thor Linnane.
It continues the unfolding bond between Lyra and Lūrlen through dream, distance and cosmic intuition. The release presents three songs that move through longing, sleep and emotional projection, expanding the mythology of the album into a more oneiric and inward dimension.
“Oneiric Parallax” explores the mysterious convergence of dreams between Lyra and Lūrlen. In this song, distance no longer functions only as separation, but as a veil through which both souls begin to perceive each other in sleep. Lūrlen senses a woman he has never met, yet whose presence already inhabits his inner world with impossible intimacy. She appears across stars and silence, at once unknown and deeply familiar. The song captures the moment in which dreaming becomes a form of contact, where longing moves beyond signal and enters the realm of subconscious recognition. Here, love is not yet fulfilled in reality, but it has already taken shape in the hidden architecture of sleep.
“Lavender Lullaby” introduces a softer and more fragile emotional landscape within the single. The song unfolds like a memory half-preserved inside a dream, filled with violet skies, cherry blossoms and the lingering ache of someone who remains present even in absence. The song suggests a place beyond ordinary time, where love survives as atmosphere, fragrance and echo. In the narrative of the release, this song represents the emotional afterglow of connection, the place where memory and dream begin to merge until they can no longer be separated.
“Oneiric Parallax (Lyra’s Dream Version)” reimagines the central song from Lyra’s interior perspective. While preserving the same lyrical foundation, this version shifts the mood Eventstellar sought to explore through a Radiohead and Goldfrapp-influenced atmosphere, the piece takes on a more intimate and experimental dimension. In this version, sleep becomes a mirror and the cosmos itself becomes a chamber where two distant consciousnesses begin to align.
Oneiric Parallax is a release centered on dream as revelation. Across its songs, the single explores how love first emerges not through presence, but through visions, memory and unconscious recognition. It stands as a key chapter in Love is a Distant Signal album.
