“The Gulf of America” is Eventstellar’s fortieth single, released globally by Madelos Music International on January 20, 2025. Recorded on New Year’s Eve 2025, this provocative release encapsulates the band’s deep concerns about humanity’s trajectory. Produced and mixed by Ragnar Sigurðsson and Matt Dublin. And mastering by Magnus Thomasson at Skögalfoss Studios in Reykjavik, Iceland, the single fuses transcendental tones with concerning melodies.
With its incisive critique of political extremism, societal divides, and the perils of unchecked ego, the single serves as both a warning and a call for balance amidst chaos. Blending elements of political protest, biblical allusions, and transcendental themes, Eventstellar crafts a poignant reflection on the fragility of civilization.
For the first time, Eventstellar departs from its iconic font design and traditional single title presentation. The release of “The Gulf of America” marks a bold shift in the band’s visual and artistic identity. This evolution is reflected in the striking cover art, which mirrors the apocalyptic themes of the single. The artwork features the pale horse from Revelations, a harbinger of destruction, with red and gray fumes representing the left and right.
Oil platforms, symbolic of planetary pollution, appear amidst the imagery of a crucified planet. While The Horseman looms ominously beneath the sea. The redesigned title and font underscore the gravity of the message.
This new visual approach emphasizes the band’s commitment to innovation and aligns with the profound and provocative themes of the single, further solidifying Eventstellar’s transcendental ethos.
The singles includes three songs:
“In the Gulf of America”
The title track delivers a powerful indictment of humanity’s descent into division and destruction. With evocative lyrics such as “Planting the devil seed / Raising the flowers of fire,” the song paints a harrowing picture of a world teetering on the brink. Drawing from biblical Revelations and the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ, the track underscores the moral and spiritual consequences of greed, radicalism, and the loss of truth. Its thunderous instrumentals and haunting vocals mirror the urgency of its message, culminating in a plea for humanity to “Run…Run…Run…” before it’s too late.
“Equilibrium”
This contemplative piece highlights the necessity of balance in a world polarized by extremes. The lyrics navigate the push and pull of opposing forces, with lines such as “The middle is always the path / The equilibrium in both sides.” As a counterpoint to the title track’s intensity,“Equilibrium” employs a softer, almost meditative tone, urging listeners to find peace in the light that lies beyond chaos. Its intricate arrangements and steady rhythm create a sense of calm amidst the storm, embodying the hope for reconciliation and unity.
“In the Gulf of America (Left & Right Version)”
A re-imagining of the title track, this version emphasizes the duality of political and ideological conflict. Featuring variations in tone and instrumentation, it explores the cyclical nature of empires rising and falling. The haunting refrain of “Whatever you bind below / Will be bound above” takes on heightened significance, underscoring the interconnectedness of earthly actions and their cosmic repercussions. The alternate take invites listeners to reconsider the consequences of division and the possibility of forging a balanced path forward.
This single stands as Eventstellar’s boldest artistic statement to date, merging their signature transcendental rock sound with a sharp social critique.
“The Gulf of America” is not just a song—it’s a warning, a lament, and a call to action for a world on the edge.”
