Utopia is Eventstellar’s fifth extended play and the twenty-fourth release in the band’s canon. Originally released on February 11, 2020 and re-released on October 21, 2025 through Sólir Music. This EP marks a new direction for Eventstellar shifting from the romantic and cosmic introspection of previous eras into a world of sociopolitical reflection, human critique, and hope for a better collective destiny.
Produced and mixed by Finn Ó Cléirigh, Matt Dublin with Michael Nikou and recorded by Sōun Kanda. The EP was mastered by Michael Nikou with Magnús Thomasson. The release were recorded and mixed between The Warehouse Zone, MicNix Studio and Skógafoss Studios, in Dublin, Reykjavik and Adelaide.
With five songs, Eventstellar ventures into political terrain for the first time. Questioning the systems we inherit, the powers that shape us and the illusions we’re asked to believe. This release captures a moment of cultural fracture, where truth feels manufactured and identity is sold in digital pieces.
Utopia is an anthem of impossible hope, the song dares to envision a planet beyond division, greed and decay. It is naïve by design, a plea for humanity to recover the innocence of belief. “No more stupid wars for oil / No more flags dividing us,” the lyric declares, turning political despair into idealism. The song channels that rare Eventstellar blend of melancholy and light, imagining not escape, but transcendence.
Equilibrium is a meditative reflection on polarization, the song drifts between tension and calm. Its lyrics expose the futility of extremes: left and right, red and blue. While the music follows the quiet rhythm of neutrality. Beneath the minimal arrangement lies a call for perspective: to seek the center where empathy survives. “The middle is always the path,” whispers the refrain. A philosophy wrapped in pulse and restrain.
Without the Fools is cathartic protest disguised as dream punk protest rock. The song collapses the illusion of modern civilization. Walls fall, lights fade and through the ruins comes a cry for renewal. The sound is urgent but melodic: A reclamation of freedom from blind systems and hollow idols. It’s rebellion through resonance, born from exhaustion and carried by hope.
Do You Believe? dark, fast and conspiratorial, it questions the very fabric of truth. Media, manipulation, and mass distraction merge in a storm of paranoia and revelation. “Do you believe in all the truth we left behind?” the voice demands, torn between disbelief and awakening. It’s a transmission from the edge of reason, an anthem for a society wired to implode.
The Employee Factory biting and ironic, this song dissects the new machinery of the modern age. From universities turned into assembly lines to corporations manufacturing purpose, the song portrays humanity as both product and prisoner. Its rhythm mimics the loop of routine, the repetitive hum of ambition, burnout and surrender. It’s satire made song: a mirror held to the programmed soul.
Utopia is more than an extended play, it’s a reflection of the world we inhabit and the one we still dare to imagine. Between disillusionment and faith, it asks whether humanity can still rewrite its code. In this era of Eventstellar, the stars are no longer distant, they are the witnesses of our own becoming.
