“Population III” is Eventstellar’s fifth single and the first official release from their debut full-length album Strangelet. Recorded from February to April 2017 at Skógafoss Studio in Reykjavik, Iceland and The Warehouse Zone in Dublin, Ireland. It was produced by Rúnar Sigurðsson and Asher Parsons, mixed by Einar Solheim and mastered by Michael Nikou & Thor Linnane.
This single delves into the origins of the universe and the mystery of our cosmic beginning, through a trilogy of tracks that reflect Eventstellar’s expanding philosophical and sonic landscape:
Population III introduces the mythic first generation of stars, known as Population III, believed to have formed from pure hydrogen and helium in the aftermath of the Big Bang. Through poetic and haunting lyrics, the song contemplates their brief yet monumental existence—too bright and too fast to leave a trace—setting the tone for the rest of the album.
First Pulse explores the metaphysical concept of the universe’s first heartbeat. The moment where silence became motion, where nothing turned into something. It echoes themes of ignition, resistance, and transformation, using simple rhythms and simple to capture the moment the universe came to life.
The Dark Ages is an instrumental track shaped by cosmic rock ambient textures and sound design. It captures the primordial stage of the universe that followed the Big Bang, before the first stars lit the sky. The track conjures a desolate soundscape, immersing the listener in the deep void of the universe’s earliest epoch.
This release marks a significant evolution in Eventstellar’s creative path, expanding their sound into a more conceptual, cosmic dimension while preserving their core emotional intensity.
